The READ Festival

The Victoria READ Society is a non-profit educational organization helping students learn and fostering literacy in Greater Victoria. Their annual poetry festival brings in funds that allow children to have access to the classes they need at READ. We designed a new look which helped raise the profile of the festival and energized volunteers. The event drew a capacity crowd to help meet their funding goal. The design was adapted for advertising, posters, flyers, handbills, souvenir books, and programs.
Hosted by CBC Radio's Shelagh Rogers and Bill Richardson, the Festival featured award-winning poets Karen Connelly, Lorna Crozier, Patrick Friesen, Patrick Lane, Wendy Morton, P.K. Page, Don McKay, Susan Stenson, Jan Zwicky and three young READ Society readers.
