TimeWise Manages Everything: Contacts, Money, and Projects
David Berman Developments' new TimeWise combines contact management, financial
management, and project management with a graphical interface to give small-
to medium-size businesses all the tools needed to manage daily operations. With
TimeWise you can track clients, build estimates and schedules, design proposals,
monitor jobs and their deadlines, perform order entry and billing, print shipping
labels, and more. It's network-compatible with six levels of security, and it
even has an electronic noticeboard for posting workgroup-wide meetings and news.
There are even built-in routines for self-diagnosis and self-correction of data,
plus archive, backup, and purge routines. If you need a full-featured accounting
solution, TimeWise provides links to the SBT Accounting Library. A two-month
trial license is available and licenses for concurrent users vary.

With an eye toward filling the project-management and administrative requirements
of small to medium-sized businesses, David Berman Developments Inc. has released
a billing, time-tracking and project-scheduling package. TimeWise comprises
modules to handle the full range of administrative tasks associated with contract
projects, including scheduling, tracking, billing, estimating costs, managing
production, issuing purchase and insertion orders, and analyzing jobs, according
to officials for the Ottawa company. "The product's point of difference
is that it provides a complete set of tools and is based on management techniques
that work — it's like a management consultant has joined the staff,"
said President David Berman. "The package can be customized to reflect
the way an organization works." TimeWise has improved Occidental Petroleum
Corp.'s overall system of doing things, according to Irene Ing, assistant manager
for publications at the Los Angeles oil company. "It's been a good central
collector of information — it gives us a summary at the end of each job,"
Ing explained. "We can look at where our savings came from. For example,
we can look at the cost of freight, or postage, or whatever." Ing's department
produces all of Occidental's financial reports and provides design and printing
services for individual departments. The department adopted TimeWise as a job-tracking
