What equipment do I need to use TimeWise?
TimeWise can be used on:
Who uses TimeWise?
While managers and financial officers are the most common TimeWise users, TimeWise
is potentially useful to every person in your organization. From the production
worker logging their time to the clerk who needs to know which deliveries are
leaving to the account rep who wants a summary of her commissions to the president
who needs a report of long-term profitability, TimeWise offers information that
helps everyone do their jobs better. In larger organizations, a networked multi-user
installation greatly enhances ease of access and effective information sharing.
TimeWise's extensive security system allows you to confidently allow access
to many people, carefully limiting what each person can see or do. In smaller
organizations, a single-user edition can work just fine. And for very small
shops or individuals, TimeWise Light is often the perfect fit.
Must I be an accountant or bookkeeper? No. You don't have to be a chartered accountant or have any type of business management training to use TimeWise. We have carefully created the program to use no-nonsense straightforward terms and concepts that do not require special training. However, it is a good idea to consult your accountant when selecting any accounting software.
Must I be a computer expert? No. TimeWise assumes little to no previous computer experience. If you know nothing of computers, the documentation contain all you need to know to install, use, and maintain TimeWise. If you do have computer experience, you will find using TimeWise intuitive without reading the documentation. TimeWise includes a beginner tutorial that you or others can use to quickly familiarize yourselves with the TimeWise approach.
How many people can TimeWise track? How many people can use TimeWise?
The single-user edition comes with the capacity to track up to 10 people, and you can buy additional licenses to track as many people as you wish. The multi-user edition comes with the capacity to track up to 10 people and also allows them all to use TimeWise simultaneously. You can buy as many additional 10-user multi-user block as you require. (The Light edition of TimeWise only tracks up to 8 people and cannot be expanded without upgrading to the full commercial edition.)
If TimeWise doesn't quite do what I had hoped, can I order custom modifications?
Absolutely. Unlike many off-the-shelf software solutions, we welcome the opportunity
to customize our feature set to yield an exact fit for your organization. Many
of our larger installations can attest to the value of having our efficient
design and programming staff develop specific tweaks to fit your situation.
You can have the benefit of a custom-built solution, while staying on a convenient,
inexpensive and well-documented upgrade path of a mostly off-the-shelf solution.
For more information, read about our Shared Development Program. To arrange

Also, pretty well everything in the manual is available in the on-line help in the program.
Where can I go if I have questions about how to use TimeWise?
If the on-line documentation is not sufficient, you can email support@timewise.net or try other resources on the TimeWise technical support page. When you purchase a license to TimeWise, you will be entitled to 50 days of unlimited personal telephone support.

What are the differences between TimeWise and TimeWise Light?
TimeWise Light is a scaled-down, shareware edition of TimeWise, for organizations
of 1 to 8 people. In brief, TimeWise Light does not offer any of the extensive
estimating or proposal features or advanced job management features that TimeWise
does such as designing your own job lists. TimeWise Light does not include charge
groups (which are powerful groups of commonly associated combinations of up
to 25 time and material charges) to speed charge entry and estimating. TimeWise
Light does not include as many reports nor the ability to design and launch
your own reports. TimeWise Light does not support the electronic transfer of
client and/or billing information to many third party accounting packages. TimeWise
Light does not allow you the option to purchase as many licenses required for
multi-user sharing of data in real time, including sharing information between
platforms. For a complete description of the differences between TimeWise and
TimeWise Light, go to our Advanced Features Comparison page.

each employee, classified by client, by an unlimited number of

Yes, TimeWise has an optional feature that allows staff to
start a stopwatch ticking each time they begin a task, if that is
the method you wish to use to track the time use of some or all
of your staff. Using this method, you can have realtime reporting
on the status of jobs in progress. How flexible this approach is
depends upon the security profile you establish for each staff
member.
There are a number of ways you can enter time events remotely:
It can be done using our multi-user edition over a WAN or LAN,
some kind of remote control (like PCAnywhere) or by collecting
data off-line and appending it to the master databases. (TimeWise
automatically rebuilds its indexes to accommodate appended
records). As well, if you are considering building a Web-based
front end for remote time entry, we can supply you with the hooks
to do so...please ask.
