TIMEWISE INTERNATIONAL BETA NOW AVAILABLE FOR MACINTOSH
----------------------------------------
Since we've launched our Web site, we've discovered that people from
all over the world are trying out TimeWise. However, if you live outside
the United States or Canada, you would have likely been frustrated that
TimeWise for Macintosh does not behave well when it comes to issues like
local telephone number formats, currency formats, and a host of other issues.
We created English-language international editions of TimeWise
for Windows and TimeWise Light for Windows and have now added this functionality
to TimeWise for Macintosh as well.
Unlike our Windows offerings, there is not a separate international
edition of TimeWise for Macintosh: rather the current TimeWise for Macintosh
beta release on the Web site simply includes the international features.
The international editions include profiles for many specific
countries in the world, as well as a general international setting which
will work anywhere. Even users in North America will find it useful, in
that it takes better account of regional issues, and allows you to set
personal preferences on date formats and other such issues.
So far, we have included settings for Australia, Canada (including
specific settings for Quebec and for the Atlantic Provinces), France, Ireland,
Israel, New Zealand, Panama, South Africa, the United Kingdom and the United
States. With your help, we'll add more.
We've worked hard to have the profiles for each region address
local conventions on addressing, phone numbering, tax rules, currency formats,
and a host of other regional issues. And we want your feedback on how we
can improve upon what we've done to make sure that TimeWise is the perfect
fit for your organization, no matter where you are located. So, please
tell us if there is anything we can do to improve upon the profile for
your region...or if we have not included a profile for your region and
you would like us to do so, please contact us: we will be happy to do so
at no charge
to you.
To get your trial edition of TimeWise for Macintosh including
international features, go to

If you have already installed TimeWise for Macintosh, you can
instead download a patch to upgrade you to the international edition at

We continue to be open to inquiries regarding potential international
distributors for TimeWise.
YOU ASKED US: TIMEWISE YEAR 2000 COMPLIANCE
-----------------------------------------
With the new year, we received this question many times in the last
month...
Question: Is TimeWise year 2000 compliant*?
Answer: TimeWise's data structures are 100% Year 2000 compatible, so all information in TimeWise will be unaffected by the turn of the millennium, without any hiccups during the transition. By June 1998, we will be releasing an upgrade with an interface allowing four-digit year entry so that all TimeWise users will have over a year to get accustomed to working with year 2000 dates. For more information on TimeWise's Year 2000 compliance policy, please refer to http://www.davidberman.com/timewise/faq.htm#2000 .
For more answers to other frequently asked questions, see the Frequently
Asked Questions section of our Web site at http://www.davidberman.com/timewise/faq.htm
and for questions specific to TimeWise Light see http://www.davidberman.com/timewise/lightque.htm
. We enjoy the opportunity to help you plan profit into every project.
Keep sending us your questions and we'll keep providing solutions!

you have encountered that requires us to examine your data to solve. Should
this occur, our technical support staff will give you instructions at that
time on how to use this facility.
MANAGEMENT TIP: MORE EFFECTIVE PRODUCTION AND SALES MEETINGS
----------------------------------
It is fairly common for firms who handle many projects to have regular
production meetings, where everyone involved walks through a list of the
jobs in progress to confirm that all is well with deadlines and other commitments.
TimeWise Jobs lists (from the Jobs menu) make excellent agendas for such
a meeting: you can print a copy for each attendee and they can retain the
lists as a quick reference to job numbers when completing their timesheets.
You can also use the Memorized Jobs List from the TimeWise Jobs menu to
customize the appearance of this list, and to filter which jobs should
appear.
As well, if you would like to keep track of which jobs are at risk for going over budget or past deadline, a manager at the meeting can be equipped with the Work In Progress Report, which will allow them to follow along as each job is discussed, checking to see where the job stands with respect to the total budget and schedule.
TimeWise can also be a big help at sales meetings: users of the full
commercial edition of TimeWise can create a Memorized Jobs list that shows
only Estimates. Even if you don't use TimeWise's estimating features, opening
an estimate for each job that you are pursuing will result in them appearing
on such a Memorized Jobs List. The list then becomes a focused agenda for
the sales meeting, giving you the opportunity to discuss each potential
project and how you can best go about winning the contract.
When you are awarded a particular job, simply use the Change Estimate
Into Job command on the Actions menu to convert the estimated job into
an actual job in progress.
