TimeWise for Windows and TimeWise
Light for Windows updater to version 7, release
D5 (posted July 12/2001, ~600KB)
This updater updates all versions of TimeWise Light 6 for Windows, release D4 and later and all versions of TimeWise 6 Light for Windows release D4 and all versions to the last pre-release beta version of version 7, improving features and fixing problems reported by our users. You must have TimeWise 6 release D4 or later or TimeWise Light 6 release D4 or later installed for the update to work. If you wish to upgrade from version 5 to version 6, see our upgrade page. If you already have version 6 but a release earlier than D4, then install the updater to 6D4 first, then install this updater.
International users: If you are installing this update to make available to you a region profile not previously available, and you have already installed and are using TimeWise, you must follow these steps in order to force TimeWise to ask you to choose your region profile again (thus letting you choose the one you want): 1. Uninstall TimeWise. 2. Reinstall TimeWise but don't launch yet. 3. Install this updater. 4. Launch TimeWise and select the region profile you want when asked. (If this procedure is unrealistic because you have already been working in TimeWise and don't want to lose your data, email us at support@timewise.net and we will tell you how to change your region profile without losing any data.)
Cross-platform users beware!: If you are running both TimeWise
for Windows and TimeWise for Macintosh with shared data, you must keep the release
letter in sync across both platforms... which means that, for example, if you
are running release 6A on one platform, you must be running release 6A on the
other platform in order that the data remains cross-platform compatible. You
can mix releases where the last digit differs: for instance, you can mix 6A3
with 6A6, but NOT 6A3 with 6B3.
Currently, the best cross-platform mix is TimeWise for Macintosh release
7D5 and TimeWise for Windows 7D5.
How to install the updater: After backing up your entire TimeWise folder, download the updater to your TimeWise folder and double-click on it, agreeing to replace any existing files with the same names. If you are on a network, you will have to remove the read-only attributes from the following files before running the updater and then restore them to read-only manually afterwards: *.EXE, *.LB?, *.FR?, *.FPW, *.ESL, *.HLP .
TimeWise for Windows 6 and
TimeWise Light for Windows 6 updater to version
6D4 (posted May 26/1999, 1600KB)
This updater updates all versions of TimeWise Light 6 for Windows and all versions of TimeWise 6 for Windows onward to the most recent beta version, improving features and fixing problems reported by our users. You must have TimeWise 6 or TimeWise Light 6 for Windows installed for the update to work. If you wish to upgrade from version 5 to version 6, see our upgrade page.
Please note that this particular updater makes major changes to how client and vendor contact information is stored. While you will find major improvements in the amount of information you can store about each contact and no limit to how many contacts you can have for each client and vendor, it is possible that you may have to retype a bit of information about your contacts in some rare instances.
Important note for users already running a version 6D1, 6D2, 6D3, or 6D4: There is no reason you would likely every have to, however if for some rare reason you find yourself applying this 6D4 updater to an installation that is already upgraded to 6D, then take this precaution: when extracting the files, say No to overwriting an existing copy of the file contacts.dbf if asked (that's the only issue).
Cross-platform users beware!: If you are
running both TimeWise for Windows and TimeWise for Macintosh with
shared data, you must keep the release letter in sync across both
platforms... which means that, for example, if you are running
release 6A on one platform, you must be running release 6A on the
other platform in order that the data remains cross-platform
compatible. You can mix releases where the last digit differs:
for instance, you can mix 6A3 with 6A6, but NOT 6A3 with
6B3.
Currently, the best cross-platform mix for version 6 users is TimeWise
for Macintosh release 6E1 and TimeWise for Windows 6D4 (which we know sounds
like it breaks the above rule, but is in fact just fine).
How to install the updater: After backing up your entire TimeWise folder, download the updater into your TimeWise folder and double-click on it, agreeing to replace any existing files with the same names. If you are on a network, you will have to remove the read-only attributes from the following files before running the updater and then restore them to read-only manually afterwards: *.EXE, *.LB?, *.FR?, *.FPW, *.ESL, *.HLP .
You must upgrade from version 5 to version 6 in order for
TimeWise for Windows to be Year 2000 compliant.
